Scrap Yarn Crochet Cowl Pattern

Last week, I was featured on Summit Street Joy and shared my Scrap Yarn Cowl.... I wanted to share it with you here today!  I gave this cowl this name because it's a great project for using up old stashes of scrap yarn.  I love this cowl because you can be really creative with the colors, making it bold and bright or soft and quiet.  It's the perfect project for beginning crocheters as well.  The only stitch it uses is the half double crochet (HDC), which is a simple stitch to learn.  The cowl is crocheted in the round and the finished product measures about 10 inches wide and about 36 inches in circumference.  However, the size can be easily adjusted based on your preference.

Materials
Size K (6.5 mm) crochet hook
Scrap yarn in worsted weight (Note: each round uses about 9.5 yards of yarn, so plan accordingly to make sure you have enough scrap yarn)
Tapestry needle to weave in the ends

A note on color choices:
I wrote the pattern using the colors you see here but please feel free to substitute using colors you have in your stash

  4. I love your blog! It's one I check every day.. But, since you've changed the font I'm having trouble reading it. I know it's selfish, but is it possible to return to the old font?

    1. Michele, so glad to hear you read my blog every day! Thank so much and sorry to hear that you're having trouble reading the blog... I didn't change the font of the text in the posts so I'm confused as to why it's looking different for you. What kind of browser are you using? You may have discovered an issue with my blog template, so it'd be great if you could let me know what browser you're using so I can see if there's a bigger issue. Thanks!
